Same as we may see with Mischa, Hannibal have very strong connections that even if they should't, they cross conventional standards for love (platonic, that with family, obsession and romantic love). And i think it was similar, it was the only person who provided him comfort after such a big trauma he lived through.

@Natiqqq I understand. I just don't see why they had to make the script like that.

@JREXXERJ It wasn't neccesary for sure but it does make Hannibal's personality much more interesting, how he is acting in such extreme state of mind. (I'm not saying that relationships like that are fine, not at all)
